Wirral International Business Park

One of the region’s most impressive regeneration success stories is Wirral International Business Park (WIBP), which is within the Wirral Waterfront regeneration area. It comprises 336 hectares (830 acres) of industrial and commercial sites and retail, leisure and residential areas at Bromborough, adjacent to the Mersey.

Its importance as a key location in the regional economy has been recognised by the Northwest Regional Development Agency which identified it as one of the top regional strategic investment sites.

The park currently provides an excellent business location for more than 100 organisations, including Tulip Foods, Meyer Prestige, Cereal Partners, Stiebel Eltron, FMC Corporation, BakeMark UK (Arkady Craigmillar), Qualitek, Orange Communications, Epichem, BPI, Dynal Biotech, Lees Lloyd Whitley, Adviser Plus and Mowlem Engineering.

More than £150m has been invested in WIBP, with over 50 hectares of land improved.  1,800 of a targeted 3,000 jobs have been created through attracting new companies to the new business park areas.

Construction of a new £12m business park, known as The Gateway, was completed in 2005. The project, funded from a combination of private sector, European objective one and Northwest Regional Development Agency grant, provides a 12,125 sq m mixed office and industrial park at the southern entrance to the WIBP.

Phase two of a new office-based scheme, called Riverside Park, has been completed at the southern edge of WIBP. The project will be developed in four phases, which, when complete, will provide more than 21,000 sq m of office accommodation.
